Mental Health Respite Program

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre Mid North Coast, Mental Health Respite Program provides support to Carers of people with mental illness, psychiatric disability and Carers of people with severe intellectual disability or Autism who are not in receipt of respite services.

Who can access this Service?

To be eligible to receive respite services under this program Carers must be:

  • Caring for, or likely to be caring for 6 months or longer
  • Providing regular assistance and/or supervision with activities such as self care, communication or mobility 
  • Not in receipt other respite services

What the Program Provides:

  • Flexible short term or planned respite to give the Carer a break
  • Respite in times of crisis or emergency when the Carer is no longer able to continue with their caring role
  • A link to other services who can assist the Carer or the care recipient
  • Respite which is responsive to the needs of both the Carer and the person they care for
  • Improved access to ongoing services where available
