Dementia Respite Program

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre Mid North Coast Dementia Respite Program, provides one on one support for people with dementia, who are accessing respite in an aged care facility, enabling the Carer to have a break.

The support is provided when the person with dementia has challenging behaviours and would not be able to go into or remain in respite unless the extra support is provided. 

Eligibility

To be Eligible the person with dementia must have:

• A Carer
• A current Aged Care Assessment
• Behaviours that would normally exclude them from respite

The level of support provided is negotiated with the facility on a daily basis and can be altered to suit the needs of the person in respite.
