PLEASE NOTE: This site is currently under review and as such information contained on this site is not current.

The Mid and Far North Coast Carer Respite Centres are two of over 63 Carer Respite Centres across Australia. The centres are part of the Federal Government's National Respite for Carers Program. Their main source of funding is the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, with some funding from the Department of Family and Community Services since March 2000.

Both the Mid and Far North Coast Carer Respite Centres are managed by The United Protestant Association of NSW Ltd, North Coast Region. For more information go to the website www.upa.org.au or telephone 02 6628 5559.

ABOUT US

The role of the Respite Centre is to provide a single point of contact for carers requiring information:

Carer Respite
  • Information about respite services in your area
  • We help carers access planned respite services
  • We work closely with all respite services in our regions to help improve coordination between respite services, highlight gaps in respite and to attract more funding for respite services
  • We offer emergency respite 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Someone comes to your home to take your place for the period of the emergency.
  • We offer one off or short term respite

There are 18 Centres established in NSW each covering a HACC (Home and Community Care) planning region. The Centres use a national free-call number, 1800 059 059. To check which office covers your area please click on the maps below.

The Mid North Coast Carer Respite Centre is based in Macksville and helps carers throughout the Mid North Coast from Woolgoolga in the North to Hawkes Nest in the South. Contact us.

The Far North Coast Carer Respite Centre has two outlets, one in Grafton and one in Alstonville. The area covered by the centre is from the QLD/NSW border down to just north of Woolgoolga and out to the eastern side of the New England Highway. Contact us.

Both the Far and Mid North Coast Carer Respite Centres (FNC CRC and MNC CRC) were established in December 1997 and have grown to provide a wide range of services.
